[ Appearance ] The Appearance Rune is used by the Delegates to make them seem more appealing to other people. It makes you look better, move a bit smoother, and seem a little less flawed than your compatriots. The Appearance Rune is Represented by a small reflective patch that forms on your chest, right above your solar plexus. Every level you gain in the Appearance Rune gives you one extra die to use on Appearance based rolls. At 5th level these ghost die actually shift over to become a single extra point of appearance, per ten levels you go up. [ Acting ] The Acting Rune can be used for a number of reasons. This can include anything from making someone believe that you're hurt, to a simple performance or recitation. The better your acting skills, the more people will believe you, and the more you can accomplish. The Acting Rune is represented by a thin line that forms down the middle of the reflective area, one side of the reflection shows things as they really are, the other side shows things how you are making them out to be. For every level you gain in the Acting Rune, you also gain a single point in the acting skill. These are actual points, not just ghost points. Of course, you can also add one extra ghost point to Appearance for each level you gain in this Rune, but only when you've used acting to get where you are. [ Intimidation ] Intimidation is used to make people back off, or to frighten things. It can be a completely overt usage of your powers, or as subtle as a single glance in someone's direction. The Intimidation Rune is represented by a slight sparking of the eyes when the Dreadnought gets ready to use this Rune. This Rune gives you both one point in intimidation, and a single automatic success in intimidation for every level you have in it. The automatic successes are used for overt uses of the power, and the points are used as normal, either as a bolster of the overt usage, or to resist someone else's intimidation affects. At 5th level, every success you gain above an opponent in an intimidation attempt equates to one temporary health level of damage for them. If you do enough damage in this way, you can actually scare someone to death. Remember, you can only intimidate someone once per encounter. [ Presence ] Presence is a Dreadnought's ability to affect massive groups of people, through sheer force of will. This can be as subtle as making everyone notice you, which isn't very subtle, to forcing a group of people to bow down before you. Even those who are more powerful than you can be affected by this Rune, which is a first amongst Runes. Presence has many, many uses, but is most often only used in very special circumstances. This is due to its great affects on those it's used on. Using it too often cheapens it's affects, and actually makes people resistant to its powers. The Presence Rune is represented by a thin braided cord that stretches from the appearance Rune to the other two social Runes. This Rune effectively gives you 2 automatic successes on any intimidation, acting, or appearance roll, per level. As this Rune goes up in level, the Dreadnought gains the ability to affect larger, and larger groups of people. Roughly 100 people per level can be affected, until 5th level, where everyone that can see you is affected by it's power. Presence has one of three affects on people. First, it can cause everyone to stop what they're doing, and glance your way. This is the most subtle usage of the Rune. Second, it can cause a large group of people to bow down before you, either through usage of intimidation, or acting like they should. This is not subtle at all, and anyone that realizes what's going on will probably get very mad. The last usage of this Rune is to turn back a crowd of people who are after you. Anyone who comes under it's affects will run screaming from you, and possibly attack those who are trying to get at you. This power can also be used to turn a crowd against its instigators. |
