Some classes have a dual nature. Some act one way, others act another. This class is a classic example of it. The Blades of Life are not only the Dreadnought healers, they also double as the Dreadnought assassins. Most members of this class tend to be healers, with a sort of vicious streak to them that surfaces when you piss them off. Those Dreadnoughts who tend towards the healing side are normally like that. Most of them don't like to fight too much, but can if the situation dictates. Healing inclined Blades don't normally have to fight, since other Dreadnoughts will usually step in for them if they're lower level. Those who lean more towards the assassin side of the class are generally avoided if it's possible, since they have the strange habit of 'borrowing' energy from their peers. Assassins like to fight, no, scratch that, they love to fight. Most of them drain their opponent's energy, and then attack them with it while also using it to heal their own wounds. A very nasty cycle when it comes right down to it. While another Dreadnought may step in if a healer is attacked, they're more likely to place wagers if an assassin is the target of an attack. [ Class Leader ] Greer Blythe [ Bio Available ] [ Class Elder ] Riddyn [ Runes ] Healing Vampirism The two runes of the Blades of Life are fairly obvious when it comes to balancing out. The Healing rune is used to add new life to a being, while the Vampirism rune is obviously intended to take life away. [ Traits ] Blades prefer to seem helpless in combat, or at least to go unarmed. The healers rarely carry any weapons, as they have no need of them. If someone attacks a healer while any other type of Dreadnought is around, especially an assassin, the attacker is in for the fight of their life, as Dreadnoughts consider the healers lives more important than most others. Any Dreadnought will fight to the death for a healer who was wrongly attacked. Generally the strongest Dreadnought present will be the one who defends them. Strangely enough, if an Assassin is attacked, the other Dreadnoughts are likely to place wagers on the outcome of the fight. Class Bonuses: After a Blades of Life reaches 5th level, they'll begin to notice that all of their old scars have disappeared. Any wound they receive heals without a scar, and any hit that would normally leave a bruise, or a mark, heals almost instantly. At 20th level the normal Blades of Life will notice that anyone, or thing, that attacks them has some of its personal energy drained. This kills most insects that touch the Dreadnought, leaves small animals stunned, and may temporarily cause a normal person to lose their bearings. This defense drains off roughly 5 energy points per attack. The Blades of Life don't grow very much as they age. They might, over the course of a few decades, grow a full foot, and then no more growth will happen. On the bright side, they don't age physically, and never seem to get any older. Class Restrictions: The Blades of Life are expected to be the healers of a group, or at least spend most of their early years, and a lot of their elder years, in the Healing Center. You're the first person people will come to when they're injured, and the last person people want to see most of the rest of the time. A healer's life is tough. You generally aren't allowed to fight until you're a very high level, and even then, you're kept in the back of the party so you don't get hurt. Be prepared to do a whole lot of nothing. Oh, and when you do get older, most of the other Dreadnoughts will be much larger than you, so even those who are only half your level will look down on you and consider you inferior, giving you a +2 difficulty to most social situations. [ Opinions of the Other Classes ] Delegates of Deviation -- Chatty little things. But they have their uses. Don’t ever believe what they say, and watch your belongings. Demons of Light -- Powerful, but twisted. Don’t ever try to take their energy. Dragoon -- They make good shields, and we rarely have to heal them. No wonder we get along. Dream Shifters -- Our little brothers and sisters in healing. They take care of the mind, we take care of the body. Harbingers of Destruction -- Loudmouth punks. Always looking for healing. Illusions of Perfection -- There’s no substitute for the real thing… Mountains of Air -- ‘Nasty glare’ Always keeping us busy with their damn pranks. NecroSeraphim -- If you want something done right, do it yourself… Order of Chaos -- -Censored- Shadahar's Talons -- One of the few classes we can relate to. Soul Berserkers -- When a demon crushes your skull, or you run into a tree, don’t come crying to me. Templars of Twilight -- They’re tough, but at least they’re fair. Waves of Flame -- More burn victims? -Censored response- |
