[ Energy ]

The Energy Rune is the one rune all Dreadnought's have in common, no matter what. It is the first rune you get when you become a Dreadnought, and the highest level rune you will ever have.  No other rune may be advanced past the level of the Energy Rune. This goes for all four power levels in the Energy Rune series.The completed Energy Rune series is shaped roughly like a circle with four bulges in it, the first power level, or normal Energy Rune, is the first bulge in the circle, located at the top. Inside the bulge is a small group of three circles which are all linked at the center, representing the three main types of personal energy, physical, mental, and power.  The circles are three separate colors, blue, red, and gray, the order of the colors is not important.The Energy Rune is located over the heart, with all other runes branching off from it.

Level 1:  Energy Sense- Energy flows like water all around us, Dreadnoughts with this ability may see the flows of energy and get basic information from them.  Such as:
    Direction
    If there are any living things nearby
    Is there a disturbance in the energy of an area
    How balanced something is
    Whether or not someone is about to act, or is actively involved in something, or cast spells (psionics included)
Level 2:  Energy Focus- The energy within cannot all be accessed at once. Normally only the energy we start out with is available to us at any time, 20 energy points a round.  To use the rest of our energy we must focus it, and bring it to the surface where it manifests itself to us, and to others. This is referred to as Powering Up. You may only focus 10 levels worth of energy in a single round, so a level 40 Dreadnought would require 4 rounds of powering up to free all of his energy for use. The Energy generally manifests as either a flame surrounding the Dreadnought, electricity arcing around their body, or as a glowing in the eyes and a pumping of the muscles. The manifestation it takes on depends on the individuals preference, and need not be the same every time.  Focusing energy requires all of the Dreadnought's attention, and therefore they may not perform any other action while Powering up.
Level 3: Energy Absorb-  The Energy that flows around us is referred to as free energy.  This energy may be used by anyone with the knowledge, and the ability, to see it, feel it, or sense it. As a Dreadnought you have the unique ability to Absorb it into your own body, replenishing your used up stores of energy. You may only absorb as much as you are able to normally hold while at full energy. If you attempt to draw in more than your normal maximum, you may experience a burn out, or permanent loss of energy. Absorbing free energy requires concentration and meditation, and is therefore the only activity that may be performed in a round.
Level 4: Energy Flow Manipulation- The Energy that flows around us is not constant, nor is it completely in control of itself. It flows where it is directed, and pools where it is blocked.  A Dreadnought with this level of ability may control, to an extent, the free energy's path and movement  for a short period of time. This can include:
    Directing the energy towards an area that needs more of it
    Directing the energy away from an area where it has been blocked off
    Moving the energy away from an individual who is trying to absorb or use it
    Blocking off the energy in an area so it pools
Level 5: Energy Scan- Everyone uses energy in one form or another. This energy can be seen by those who practice and concentrate hard enough. An individuals energy is divided into 3 main categories:
    Physical power- Includes strength, dexterity, and stamina. These are represented by a red pillar that rises from the individuals body, the height, in feet, of the pillar above the person's head roughly tells you their physical stats. The pillar has 3 distinctive parts to it, the right edge, the center, and the left edge. The right edge represents strength, the center one dexterity, and the left edge stamina.
    Mental power- Includes wits, intelligence, and perception. These are represented by a blue pillar which rests directly beside the red pillar. Like the red pillar it's height in feet denotes rough stats.  The right edge represents wits, the center intelligence, and the left edge perception.
    Energy type and power- Includes balance, Energy type, and the amount of energy they have at their disposal. This one is harder to read than the other two. The Balance of the individual is represented by little spots in the Physical and Mental stats, black equals evil/chaotic, gray equals neutral, and white equals good/lawful. That's the easy part of it, if an individual is a mix, it will result in the spots being multicolored, white on black equals lawful evil, black on white equals chaotic good. Neutral individuals are not chaotic or lawful, only neutral. All Dreadnought's are neutral, this makes finding impostors very easy. The Energy Type  an individual uses is relatively easy to discern, as it surrounds their body with a sort of aura (See the Energy Type/Aura Color chart for more information). The amount of energy an individual has available is also relatively easy to read, as it is indicated by the strength of a person's energy aura. A weak, thin, flickering aura may mean they are very low on energy, or close to death, while a very bright, huge, pulsing aura may indicate someone with immense energy stores. Be careful though, some beings can alter their energy aura and stat pillars at will.


[ Energy Manipulation ]

The Energy Manipulation Rune is the second power level in the Energy Rune series. It is also the second bulge in the circle, it is located on the left side of the circle.  It is represented by a symbol that looks like a three dimensional spider web which consists of every color imaginable shimmering in an endless pattern. The web, and colors, represent the different spectrums of Energy which are known, or unknown to modern Dreadnoughts. The color of the main circle which encompasses the energy rune is determined by the spectrum of energy you choose to specialize in.This rune serves two main puposes; first it gives a Dreadnought the ability to shift a small amount of one type of energy to another type.  The maximum that can be shifted in one round is determined by your level, and can be found in the Alternate Energy Types: Usages and Limitations. Secondly, this rune gives a Dreadnought the latent ability to use types of energy other than free energy.  Emphasis on the word latent.  Having this rune at fifth level does not automatically give someone the ability to use every type of energy known to man. This particular rune has two sets of powers listed for it.  The first is the real world appliations and uses of the rune.  The second, is the list of energy types that are potentially able to be used by the Dreadnought. To use a type of energy, one must first meet certain criteria.  Such as having a certain rune mastered, having been involved in a certain event, having reached a certain level, or more likely, a combination of the three.  Criteria is listed in the Energy Type and Aura Colors chart.

  Level 1: Energy Sight- This is a semipermanent ability which gives the Dreadnought the ability to see in the energy spectrum of their choice.  This power can be switched on and off at will.
Level 2: Energy Pool- This allows the Dreadnought to create an area in which energy will collect.  Unlike flow manipulation, this power is permanent until the Dreadnought ends it.
Level 3: Feel the Flow- This power allows the Dreadnought to feel another persons energy, without making any overt movements or energy scans.  This feeling can be manifested in many ways, through a slight buzzing in the mind, a tingling of the skin, etc...
Level 4: Touch the Source- This power allows the Dreadnought to create a link between their energy, and a pool of energy or a plane of energy.  This has several affects on the Dreadnought.  First, their energy comes back a lot more quickly while they are inactive.  Second, they can actually syphon energy from the source, instead of using their own personal energy.  Finally, if the Dreadnought is knocked into a soul gem, the soul gem will teleport itself to their source of energy.
Level 5: Energy Conversion- Allows the Dreadnought to shift free energy, into an alternate form of energy.

Level 1: Free energy- The following types of energy are the ones that make up free energy; they are the easiest to use and control,  they do not cause any color change in runes, but are still useable by the Dreadnought:
    Negative- Repels normal free energy.
    Positive- Attracts normal free energy.
    Mental- Causes better learning conditions, and helps in memorization.
    Physical- Aids in Physical training, and in increasing hand eye coordination.
    Kinetic- Makes moving objects move faster, or helps to get an object moving.
    Potential- Makes moving objects slow down, or helps to make an object harder to move.
Level 2: Physical and Emotional energy- The following types of energy affect either solid objects, free energy, or a persons emotions. Never take them lightly. These forms of energy may change the color of your runes, see the chart for information:
    Burning- Causes the energy you use to set things on fire, or to burn them very badly. When used in moderation it can be used to cook food, or to merely blister skin, or to give someone a nice tan. A hot breeze may blow around you, or the temperature may rise when you are around.
    Freezing- Causes the energy you use to freeze things. A cold breeze may blow when you are around, or the temperature may drop suddenly.
    Cutting- Causes molecular cohesion to cease within any object touched by the energy. In layman's terms, this type of energy will put either blow holes in things, leaving a slightly powdery substance on objects, or cut through just about anything.
    Calming- Causes an individuals pulse to lower, pain to subside, breathing to slow down, and certain chemicals to enter the bloodstream. A very good way to start meditation, or to go to sleep.
    Exciting- Causes the heart rate to increase, breathing to speed up, and adrenaline to rush through the system. A good way to start a fight, or to wake up in the morning.
    Healing- Causes an increase in the speed of the bodies natural healing abilities. Blood clots faster, bruises go away in minutes, and pain slowly fades away.
    Poisonous- Poisonous energy forms when a pool of energy goes stagnant.  It causes aggravated damage to Dreadnought's who attempt to absorb it into their body, unless they've conditioned them self to handle it's affects.
Level 3: Internal energy- The following types of energy are used by other beings to carry out most life functions. Though they may not be completely understood, they still require studying and mastering:
    Elemental- Typically used by elemental beings from other planes of existence, this energy is generally divided into four, or more, categories, for the sake of simplicity they all break down into the same thing in the end, Elemental energy.  It can be used to practice limited control over the basic elements, fire, wind, water, and earth. All other forms are branches of the original four.
    Draining- Typically found in what are known as psychic vampires. It drains the life energy out of everything around it, use it, and study it, with caution.
    Chi- There are many forms of Chi energy. All are basically internal forms of energy which are created by the body or the environment. Yin chi, and Yang chi are the most common forms, and are the easiest forms to study and learn.
    Blood- The energy base of vampires and humans alike, humans create it within their bodies, vampires do not. Both are able to use it for the same things, though neither one knows the secrets of the other. Those who choose this form of energy must learn both to be successful.
    Spiritual- The energy of the spirit. Found most prevalently in the umbral plane, and in the places where gods dwell. Each spirit is different, as is each Dreadnought who uses spiritual energy.
Level 4: Building Block energy- The basic building blocks of everything we know and do.
    Gravitational- The energy which not only keeps us from drifting into space, but also keeps the molecules of everything together as a whole. Controlling this energy is a great feet for anyone, and requires years of study and practice.
    Spatial- The energy which was created in the proverbial 'Big Bang'. It surrounds everything in space, easy to grasp, but hard to work with. It resists even the most powerful forces of change.
    Planetary- The energy generated by thousands of life forms, and by countless molecules working together to become a single entity. Hard to grasp, but easy to work with if you're helping it along, hard to work with if you try to destroy or make a bad change, in some cases it may turn against you.
    Solar- The energy from the sun. Hard to control, hard to grasp, and hard to resist once you've felt the power.
    Life- The basic building block of everything alive. Life energy can be used to lengthen the life span exponentially, but power is not gained quickly, as it takes lots of time to fully blossom.
    Death- A necessary step in life, death makes way for the new, while clearing away the old. Power comes very quickly through Death, but so does the end of ones life. Remember that well.
Level 5: Unchangeable and Intangible energy- These energy sources are very hard to work with, very hard to control, and extremely difficult to explain.
    Black Hole- Perhaps one of the strongest forms of energy in the known multiverse, the energy generated by a microscopic Black Hole is more powerful that that created by an entire solar system. It takes thousands of years to learn to control a Black Holes energy, the scopes of infinite gravity and time distortion are hard to understand for even the smartest Dreadnought, but once it is achieved, the power is immense.
    Supernova- The energy generated by a dying galaxy, in which multiple suns explode, planets are destroyed, and spatial energy is consumed by the gigaton, they can also be caused by the death of a godlike being. Those who chance upon one of these may be strengthened beyond belief, or they may be consumed in the blast.
    Time- Time flows like water, or does it? He who unlocks the keys of time unlocks the secrets of the universe, and may find the fabled fifth dimension. Only time will tell.
    Planar- Like a circle, the planes go on forever. Millions of races, Billions of planets, Trillions of changes in space, time, and energy are all a part of the energy a Planar Dreadnought may find himself confronted with in the span of a second. Most go insane trying to learn, some master the power and are never the same again. No one goes away empty handed, though having something isn't always worth the cost.
    Pure Destructive- The purest form of entropy creates  the fastest route to power, the power to destroy. The glossy surface of the water hides an undertow and jagged rocks that will sweep you away in a second and destroy you before you know what happened..
    Pure Creative- Creation, the power of the gods, what every man craves, but denies that he craves. This can be yours, if you choose this path.  It takes a powerful mind to control creation itself, and most give it up after a few feeble tries.  Creation is an exacting art, and should not be taken lightly.


[ Energy Absorption ]

The Energy Absorption Rune is the third power level in the Energy Rune series. It opens the doorway for Dreadnoughts to increase their powers through special means, and to learn more about the energy that flows through them, and through everything around them.
It is the third bulge in the Energy Rune Circle, found on the bottom of the circle. It consists of a double convoluted funnel shaped symbol, has wide ends on the outside and smaller ends in the center, that connects two three dimensional planes together, with the symbol of a person in the center of the funnels.
The color of the symbols shimmer through the entire spectrum, denoting the ability of the Dreadnought to gather energy from almost any source, and to bring it to himself from any distance.


Level 1: Syphon
Gives the ability to draw energy from a major source of the energy you've chosen to use, no matter the distance.
Level 2: Energy Funnel
Opens a semipermenant channel between you and the source of your energy, giving you a constant flow of fresh energy.
Level 3: Purification
If the energy from your source, or the energy in a pool, becomes stagnant, or mixes with another source of undesirable type of energy, you may purge the impurities from the energy, making it stronger, fresher, and more easily used.
Level 4: Multikinetisism
Dreadnoughts with this ability are never lacking energy. You may use more than one form of energy to fuel yourself, the secondary types will not be as satisfying, or as easy to use, but they are always there for you.
Level 5: Sharing
Dreadnoughts with this ability may share their energy with another Dreadnought, or with a non Dreadnought. They may temporarily bequeath power level 1 runes on individuals, with a limited amount of power, or they may give an individual just enough energy to keep them alive till they can be healed.


[ Energy Control ]

The Energy Control Rune is the final rune in the Energy series, it is by far the most powerful, and the most useful of the four.  It is found on the right side of the circle.  It's symbol is an infinity sign that pulses with power, in whichever color your main energy type happens to be.  This symbolizes the Dreadnought's progression in their self discovery, a complete understanding of how their selected energy type works, and of the Dreadnought's ability to seemingly become more powerful than was thought possible.

  Level 1: Plug- A simple name, for a simple action. The Dreadnought concentrates for a few rounds, then blocks off someone's power supply.  This generally has no noticeable affects at first, the person acts as normal till they start to get low on energy, then they start to panic as they realize they can't replenish their energy stores. If left on long enough, a person may be killed by lack of energy.  If multiple Dreadnought's decide to block the same person, there is almost no hope of surviving the upcoming onslaught.
Level 2: Energy shift- Dreadnoughts with this power can shift between energy spectrums with no side affects, virtually allowing them to go from one type to another in the blink of an eye. Very disorienting for someone Energy Scanning them.
Level 3: Energy Cloak- Dreadnoughts with this ability can hide their aura, energy pillars, and presence from anything weaker than they are. Very useful against overconfident opponents.
Level 4: Exponential Power Up- Dreadnoughts with this ability can increase, for a short time, the number of energy points they can hold when powered up. Maximum energy points are multiplied by the Dreadnought's Level. The Dreadnought has a number of rounds equal to half their level, rounded down, to discharge the extra energy points before they are burned out.
Level 5: Energy Mastery- A Dreadnought with this ability cannot have his energy touched by anyone weaker than he is. They cannot be blocked from their energy, have their energy drained, or have someone force them to share their energy. As a side benefit, the Dreadnought's energy will never fall below 20 points. If it gets within 10 points of the minimum their body will automatically draw in free energy at the maximum rate to replenish their stores, this does not affect normal actions.

You may notice the two new columns in the Energy Type chart.  The first is the Criteria for using that particular form of energy.  For instance, a Dreadnought who wishes to use Burning energy, must first reach 5th level, and have mastered the Fire Rune.  If those two criteria haven't been met, then that particular type of energy is not available to them.  They are not allowed to use it, channel it from someone else, or get it from someone else.  If they try, very nasty things can happen to them, such as permanent burnout, of both runes and energy points.
    The second column is a Comparison of how much more powerful a certain energy type is compared to free energy.  Generally, the more you have to do to be able to use a certian type of energy, the stronger it is, and the harder to gather, and manipulate it is.  The comparison, in general, is the rough number of free energy points a single point of another type of energy is equal to.  Sorry if that's confusing, here's an example that might help:
Daeira has decided that she want's to use Cutting Energy, to do so, she must be at least level 20, and have the Destruction Rune mastered before she can even think of using cutting energy.  If she meets these criteria, then she may key her Destruction Rune and shift her free energy points into Cutting energy, at the cost of 15 free energy points, per point of cutting energy she wants to have.
Obviously, this isn't cheap, or for those who are very limited on energy.  However, it does have it's uses.  These can be found under the Basic info section, under Alternate Energy Types: Usages and Limitations.  The above link will also lead to detailed instructions on how to use/convert Free Energy Points into other types of energy.
