[ Fire ] The Fire rune is one of the four basic elemental runes. It shifts the energy in an area to burning energy, which then causes the air, an object, or just about anything else to spontaneously combust. The Fire Rune is symbolized by a flickering teardrop shaped flame. The Fire rune, like most of the elemental runes, only creates one basic affect, but at varying degrees. Level 1: Ember- A very small flame, only the size of a golf ball, it can be used to start fires, or burn someone a little bit. Level 2: Torch- A slightly larger flame, about 6 inches in diameter. Damage is still minimal. Level 3: Fireball- A large ball of flame, about 3 feet in diameter, can cause some lasting damage. Level 4: Flame thrower- A continuous flow of flame that lasts for one round, it can start anywhere, and be directed up to 50 feet. Level 5: Flare- A huge fireball, sometimes over 12 feet in diameter, can cause a lethal amount of damage. See the Quick Reference chart at the bottom of the page. [ Laser ] The Laser rune is usually used for one of two things, making holes in things, and cutting through things. Some healing Dreadnought's use it for surgery. The Laser rune looks like a wide beam of energy that hits a rounded plane and comes out very thin. Like the Fire rune, there's not much difference in the levels, except for the degree to which they do damage. The Laser rune deals Lethal damage, as it cauterizes all wounds it makes. As a special side note for the laser rune, if the damage dealt by an attack using a laser beats the soak roll by at least 2 successes, all successes beyond those that are soaked may hit anything directly behind the target. What literally happens, is that only the soaked health levels disperse their energy before the laser punches through a target. For example, Raim, a waves of flame, fires a pulse laser (level 3) at a terrorist who is hiding behind a wooden door. Raim skips the roll to hit, since it’s a stationary target, and instead just rolls for damage. Out of 12 dice, he gets 10 successes. The door only soaks 1 health level as the laser punches through it, hey it’s wood… Since the attack actually did 10 health levels of damage, beating the soak roll by at least 2, all unsoaked damage carries through to hit the terrorist, dealing nine health levels of damage to him before the soak roll. Level 1: Bolt- A single, short, burst of laser, up to a half an inch in diameter, can be used to cut small holes in things. Level 2: Beam- A single, continuous, shot of laser, up to a half inch in diameter, can be used to cut things in a straight line. Level 3: Pulse Laser- A larger version of the bolt, up to 3 inches in diameter, it can blow a hole through almost anything. Level 4: Laser Storm- Like the laser beam, up to 10 half inch lasers can be created at once. Level 5: Laser Sheet- Huh? A sheet of laser? Yea, it's one laser, up to 50 feet wide, and only a molecule tall. Useful for mowing the lawn, cutting your house in half, or blowing a hole in an army. Don't ask what happens if it gets swept around in a circle… [ Plasma ] Another new addition, thanks to some newly recovered disks of knowledge, this rune has been lost to most Dreadnoughts for over a thousand years. The Waves of Flame appear to be very happy about it's results. This rune is represented by a glowing orb of light that looks almost like the sun. Which is fitting, because plasma is what the suns made of. Level 1: Plasma Ball- Like a miniature sun, just as blinding, and it'll set anything less than steel on fire almost instantly. Roughly a foot in diameter. Level 2: Plasma Beam- Like a laser, only it doesn't cut, it chars. Roughly 2 feet wide, and as long as you spend energy for it. Level 3: Plasma Cannon- A Derivative of the plasma ball, only it's roughly 5 feet in diameter. This attack moves almost 10 times the speed of sound, and it's normally accompanied by a sonic boom or eight. Level 4: Plasma Blast- A larger version of Plasma Beam, roughly 10 feet in diameter. Level 5: Plasma Ring- An ever expanding ring of plasma that starts at the Dreadnought, and moves outwards so fast that it leaves a trail behind it. Anything caught by this attack is going to be crispy fried, as it picks up objects that weigh less than a thousand pounds and sweeps them along at the front of the ring. [ Radiation ] The Radiation Rune is the final rune in the Fire series. It combines the powers of all the other runes in this series, and can cause massive amounts of damage. It is represented by a small sphere that has tiny dots of energy continuously flowing away from it. Level 1: Passive Radiation- A small dose of radiation, it may be used to cause hair loss, temporary impotence, or to kill small animals or cancerous cells. Any damage done by a Dreadnought with this rune keyed is considered aggravated. Level 2: Fallout- A larger, more powerful dose of radiation, it may be used to cause death in weaker people, bones will rot, tissue will weaken and cause a form of leprosy, animals may give birth to mutated young. Level 3: Nuclear Winter- A solid form of radioactive material falls onto the targets of this nasty power, causing massive burns, death, and radioactive fires to break out. This can be used to clear an entire population out of an area. Level 4: Epicenter- A blast of pure radioactive energy, likened by survivors to seeing the sun form right in the room. Very few people survive the nuclear blast created by this power. By the same ticket, those who do survive are generally blinded for life, their hearing destroyed, and their skin melted in grotesque patterns. Level 5: Nuclear Blast- Trying to survive this attack is like standing at ground zero in Hiroshima with a bottle of 15 spf sun block. Somebody get a toothpick, it'll be all that's needed to pick up what's left. Buildings are destroyed like they're made of paper, living beings are annihilated, the area will be radioactive for years afterwards. Never use this power unless it's an extreme emergency.
