[ Speed ]

The speed rune is one of the more useful runes for people who fight a lot.  It allows them to hit speeds most people never dreamed were possible.  The energy around you literally makes the air friction less to your body, and the energy also infuses your muscles and nerves to make them capable of high speed bursts.  Be careful though, as it may be difficult to turn or stop once you get going.  The speed rune is represented by a rapidly spinning set of 3 circles.  Each circle has a small symbol inside it, signifying the other three runes in the series.  They will be dealt with in turn.

Running at speeds faster than sound? Outrunning a car? Moving faster than the wind? It's all possible with the speed rune. Each level gives you a new threshold for speed, multiplying your normal running speed by a certain factor. This is only usable for running, though attacking at the end of a run is permissible. Refer to the Speed Rune Series Quick Reference Chart below to see how fast you can move.
The second usage of the Speed Rune is to add automatic successes to your dexterity rolls, this allows you to hit more often, dodge better, and use weapons more efficiently. You get one automatic success on each dexterity roll, per level you have in this Rune.
Note, these two abilities cannot be used at the same time.

[ Attack ]

Attack!!! The cry rings fresh in the minds of many warriors.  As do the images of an individual who was using the attack rune in a fight.  The Attack Rune is found in the first of the three circles, when it's keyed it rotates up and forwards, standing above the other two circles.  The symbol inside the circle is one of a blade of energy, signifying a warriors weapon.

For each level in the Attack rune you have, you get one extra automatic attack every round the rune is keyed.  Opponent's without equal speed, or some way to track your movements, get a +1 difficulty to block any attacks you make per level you have in the rune.  Refer to the Quick Reference Chart.
The extra attacks given by the Attack Rune can only be taken in the form of straight Physical attacks. No runic attacks, no mental attacks, and no special attacks (which includes Paths that require energy expenditure) can be done with this Rune.
Combinations of the Speed Rune, and Attack Rune are also not possible, due to the fact that the Speed Rune is only usable for running at least an entire round, not taking a few steps then stopping. Due to the inertia generated by a Dreadnought using the speed Rune, taking a few steps then stopping to attack would cause you to fly by the intended target, missing completely, and forfeiting all further attacks that round, and possibly the next..
If you want to make multiple runic attacks in one round, please see the Time Rune for further information…

[ Reflex ]

Quick reflexes help you live longer, and they allow you to move without thinking.  Both very important skills on the battlefield, or in a normal fight.   The Reflex rune shifts the energy around you so that your subconscious mind can track the movements of everything around you.  If something gets too close too fast, your body will automatically move to avoid it.  Masters of this rune make it look easy to dodge even the fastest attacks.  It's found in the second circle of the set, and is considered to be always keyed.  The symbol inside the circle is one of a small sphere, that no matter how you look at it, it's always out of your direct line of sight.  Kind of like the people who use it very often.

For every level you have in this rune you are considered to have an automatic success on any dodge roll.  There are no surprise attacks when someone has this rune.  Every attack is treated as if it was from directly in front of the Dreadnought.  If the Dreadnought does not decide to counterattack during a round, they can dodge as many attacks as there are thrown at them. If the Dreadnought does counterattack, they are only allowed to dodge a number of attacks equal to their rating in this rune.  Again, refer to the table for quick reference.

[ Blitz ]

Dreadnoughts with the Blitz Rune are truly terrifying to behold on the battlefield, or even in a normal fight.  Their body blurs constantly, and they never seem to be in the same place for more than a second.  The Blitz rune makes it's user pure speed, nothing rivals their sheer velocity once they get moving.  From the Dreadnought's perspective, time itself begins to slow down for everyone around them, giving them tons of time to make decisions, attack, or even just step out of harms way.  The Blitz Rune is found in the third circle of the Speed rune series, and, if you can see it, is represented by a sphere that moves around the inside edge of the circle at very high speed.

The Blitz Rune gives the user two extra actions every round, per level of the rune.  The actions can be substituted for automatic successes on the attack roll, but you can't use both in the same round, it's one or the other.  A Dreadnought using the Blitz rune is also allowed to make all dodges with the help of the Reflex rune, even if they are attacking in the round.
